Wogies recently took place in the NYC WingFest presented by BroBible and Streaker Sports, held at the Boat Basin Cafe. A portion of WingFest’s proceeds will go to benefit a NYC-based foundation who raises funds and awareness for children’s organizations throughout the five boroughs.
Here’s a list of articles featuring the event:
NY Magazine held a contest, March-Madness style to find out New York’s best sports watering holes… Wogies made the final 4!
For the first time ever, all 67 games in this year’s NCAA basketball tourney will be televised nationally. Great news if your living room contains a quartet of high-def Samsungs. But if it doesn’t, and you’re someone who badly wants not to miss the next Valparaiso–over–Ole Miss buzzer beater, you should opt for a sports bar. We sent out four ESPN obsessives to test 32 local watering holes…

Wogies is again in another contest to determine NYC’s best cheesesteak.
Does Wogies (Whoa-Gee) Bar & Grill in the West Village have the best cheesesteak in New York City?
Such a bold steakment will receive its fair share of arguments but its a question worth asking. With its flavor flowing drip combination of meat, cheese and onions slapped inside a freshly baked superbly soft roll; a Wogies cheesesteak is in line with the likes of 99 Miles to Philly, Carl Steaks, Shorty’s to take home top meat.

All expats living in NYC need a place that feels like home, and for those who are (west) Philadelphia born-and-raised, Wogies is as good as it gets. But while the soul of the place lies south of New Jersey, the rib-sticking, balls-to-the-wall comfort food that Wogies specializes in is universally appealing. This is late-night stoner food at its finest.

Big-time Food Blog, Serious Eats recently named Wogies, Best Wings in NYC!
#1 (Tie): Wogies :
Skin Crispness: 4 points. Nice even crunch until the last wing.
Juiciness: 3.5 points. The flats had plenty of juice, but the drumettes verged on dry.
Sauce flavor: 4 points. Good balance of vinegar and spice. Could have used a little more sauce.
Portion size: 3.5 points. 10 wings, $8.25; 20 wings, $16; 50 wings, $39; 100 wings, $75
Overall Satisfaction: 8.5 points. Wings that are served in a classic way without feeling generic, in a sports bar that feels the same way.
Total Score: 23.5/30 points.
Heat level: 3/5: it slowly built up, but was by no means unbearable at any point.
Blue cheese/celery: Fresh celery, and bottled, but chunky blue cheese.

The Miami News-Times recently interviewed celebrity foodie and Top Chef judge, Gail Simmons. She gave Wogies a shoutout as one of her favorite local spots.
NT: What’s your favorite junk food and where do you get it?
GS: I am a sucker for savory, salty, spicy junk food. I will eat salt & vinegar chips wherever I can get them. I also have a soft spot for spicy chicken wings. They are always best eaten at dives and sports bars, like Wogies in the West Village, New York City, near my house.
